During her childhood Caroline befriended Bonnie Bennett and Elena Gilbert, and at some point Elena tried to decide which of her traits were the most annoying, her control freakishness or her delusional positivity. Elena told Stefan that in the second grade Caroline had Elena help her build a Barbie castle. During her childhood in the Forbes Cabin, Caroline was insecure about ride her bike, she didn't know how to do it. At some point, Caroline fallen off her bike and was leaning against a tree when Liz arrived, she said that she got band-aids, surgical gear, and a medevac enroute for an airlift, Caroline said that she was making fun of her. Liz applies her first aid, and Caroline asked if she is gonna die then Liz said that everyone dies eventually but she will live for a very long time, Caroline said that she always will need her, then Liz hug to her. Caroline was trying to learn with her bike, but she was afraid to ride the bike without her mother's help, Caroline told Liz that she didn't want to learn to do it but Liz impulse to her to do it without her help, Caroline finally learned to ride her bike alone. In December 22, 2007, Caroline is fifteen years old and a freshman at Mystic Falls High School and is also helping her town prepare for the Mystic Falls Lighting of the Tree Ceremony. It is revealed that her parents are still together but it can be assumed that they were having issues in their marriage and Bill was also having an affair with a man named Steven by this time. She also got excited when Elena revealed that she was going to convince her parents to let Bonnie stay for the holidays as they've never spent an holiday apart from each other. However, her father left and divorced her mother after revealing that he was gay, and began a relationship with Steven, whom also had a daughter. On December 22, 2008, Caroline is a sophomore at Mystic Falls High School, at this point. Unseen on screen at the time, during the events of Season One, Caroline and her friends played a "secret santa" game and Stefan Salvatore gave Caroline a key-ring snow globe of Mystic Falls, which disappointed her; she also gave Bonnie a gift.

As a baby ,her parents had promised thier daughter to an heir ( Jackson Kenner) to insure the bloodline of the pack,they had arranged for their daughter to marry Jackson. Andrea was born,both her father and mother were killed,leaving Andrea without anyone to look after her,soon after Andrea was taken in by Marcel Gerard,who gotten Andrea out of town after the death of her parents. Andrea she was adopted by a human family. After the first full moon of the month,she unknowingly phased into a werewolf,after triggering the curse after killing someone later that night after getting drunk. After she wrecked the house and everything in it,the family that had adopted her into their home kicked her out. After this, Andrea fled and traveled the country,even changing her name from ' Andrea' to ' Hayley' Hayley made her way to Mystic Falls,in order to find out information about her biological parents,she began to work with a man named, Atticus Shane,who had promised her to help her find her real parents. While she was still in Mystic Falls,she found and met Tyler Lockwood, and helped him to brake the sire bond that Tyler had with Klaus,but Tyler kept his real identity a secret from her. Hayley has been an loner most of her life,every once and a while joining up with a wolf pack for a few days but never staying in one place to long,she travels the country,never leaving anything behind.  She once traveled to Canada,and was part of a wolf pack,for a few days,where the pack members were all female,she saw that the wolf's changed into human forum and the Alpha of the pack started using the girls as her own personal girls. Hayley,herself didn't stick around in the pack but for a few days,but she left.
