Her mother, a workaholic, and her father never had a happy, working relationship. When her dad came out as gay, they divorced, and Caroline and her mother grew father apart. She was best friends with Elena Gilbert and Bonnie Bennett, two girls of which she had grown up with and were like sisters to her. She tried her best to be there for Elena when her parents died, and is determined to be a comforting friend once she sees Elena when the students of Mystic Falls High return to school this coming school year.
